How did we find out the truth?: We performed a relevant keyword search on Google which led us to several news reports about this incident.
Reports shared by India Today, Times of India, Indian Express and Hindustan Times identified the accused as Sachin from Bahadurgarh in Jhajjar district of Haryana.
It stated that the accused allegedly killed Narwal and dumped her body in a suitcase in Haryana’s Rohtak.
According to the reports, the police added that Sachin, also known as Dhillu, had been in a relationship with Narwal for 18 months.
None of the reports mention the accused to be Muslim, as claimed.
Report shared by Hindustan Times and news agency ANI carried a statement from a press conference held by Haryana police.
ADGP Rohtak Range Krishan Kumar Rao announced that they arrested accused Sachin, who used to run a mobile shop in Jhajjar.
Rao further states that on 27 February, Sachin visited Narwal at her house in Vijay Nagar Rohtak when they had a fight.
Following this fight, he killed her with the help of a mobile charger cable.
"After this, he took her jewellery, phone, and laptop to his shop in Jhajjar. The accused later packed the body of the deceased in a suitcase kept in the house and threw it in the bushes near the Sampla bus stand, " Rao added.
We also reached out to Sunny Laura, Rothak Police PRO, who refuted the communal claims.
He said, "Both the accused, Sachin, and the woman belong to the Hindu community. Sachin is a Jat and a resident of Khairpur village in Jhajjar. The claim is false."
He further stated that initial stages of investigation revealed that the reason behind the murder was linked to financial problems between the two.
Conclusion: A false communal angle is being given to Congress worker Himani Narwal's murder case.
