| - On Oct. 31, 2024, the Facebook account America's Last Line of Defense (ALLOD) shared a meme suggesting that the co-hosts of ABC daytime talk show "The View" — Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin — would resign if the show added conservative political commentator Candace Owens to its panel.

In the comments section of the meme, the post's author shared, "Let's face it, patriots. Candace Owens is one of a litany of people who became right wing influencers because it's the easiest job in the world. Just echo their prejudices and they'll throw money at you."
Some readers seemed to interpret the rumor as factual, with one commenter writing, "I dont believe Candice would ever agree to being a part of that show! She would chew them up and spit them out, and they know that!"
Pinned to the top of the comments section, ALLOD's author linked to a similar story published by the Dunning-Kruger Times website (also part of the ALLOD network), time-stamped the same date as the Facebook meme. According to the Dunning-Kruger Times:
Candice Owens scares the women of "The View." The trio of twisted lefties that is Whoopi, Joy and Sunny have made it clear: If the network hires her, they'll quit.
"She's a MAGA extremist who sells nonsense to numb skulls," said Whoopi, "There's no way I'll sit at a table and take her seriously.
"I can't do it," said Joy, "she's awful. She's just going to go off the handle and scream all the time."
However, there was no evidence from any reputable news outlet to back up the claim that the co-hosts of "The View" would resign if Owens joins the show.
Further, the ABC Network made no such announcement regarding Owens being added to "The View" roster, while ABC News, which typically releases information related to the daytime talk show, has not given a statement regarding this apparent addition to the host lineup. The alleged quotes from the co-hosts, Owens and Fox News presenter Ingraham, published by the Dunning-Kruger Times, have not been corroborated by any official sources.
The ALLOD Facebook account, which helped spread the rumor, describes its output as being satirical in nature, as follows:
The flagship of the ALLOD network of trollery. Nothing on this page is real.
Additionally, on the "About Us" section of its website, the Dunning-Kruger Times writes that "everyone on this website is fiction. It is not a lie and it is not fake news because it is not real. If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined. Any similarities between this site's pure fantasy and actual people, places, and events are purely coincidental and all images should be considered altered and satirical."
Snopes has addressed similar satirical claims in the past, including the assertion in September 2024 that "The View" hosts threatened to quit if Owens was added as a host, and the December 2023 satirical claim that Owens was officially replacing Goldberg on the panel.
For background, here is why we alert readers to rumors created by sources that call their output humorous or satirical.
