| - MyPillow did put one of its items on sale for $14.88, and the number 1488 is associated with the far-right. However, CEO Mike Lindell denied this figure was chosen because of its link to white supremacists and neo-Nazis.
In September 2024, a claim circulated online that MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell was selling a pillow for $14.88 — a number associated with white supremacist movements.
One social media user posted the rumor on X, along with images purportedly showing a "flash sale" for the bedding-manufacturing company (archived).
The X post had amassed more than 62,000 views as of this writing, but the claim also spread elsewhere on the platform and on Reddit.
One X user asked whether the claim was true, while another simply stated it was "fake."
The sale price raised eyebrows because 1488 is a popular number in far-right, white supremacist, neo-Nazi circles. According to the Anti-Defamation League:
1488 is a combination of two popular white supremacist numeric symbols. The first symbol is 14, which is shorthand for the "14 Words" slogan: "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children." The second is 88, which stands for "Heil Hitler" (H being the 8th letter of the alphabet). Together, the numbers form a general endorsement of white supremacy and its beliefs.
The "14 Words" slogan was attributed to David Eden Lane, a cofounder of a now-defunct white supremacist organization called The Order.
MyPillow had previously used discount codes such as "QAnon," "Q," and "Storm" on its website. The first two are a reference to the fringe far-right conspiracy theory forum, while "Storm" was a reference to a conspiracy theory that the riot at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021 would bring about the execution of Trump's enemies.
Did MyPillow Offer Item for $14.88?
The claim about MyPillow holding a $14.88 sale for one of its items was true. The company had posted about the discount on X three times as of this writing, on Sept. 20, 23 and 24 (archived).
"Sleep like a dream with our Standard MyPillow for just $14.88! Use promo code R277 to snag this deal and wake up feeling refreshed every morning. Don't miss out on the ultimate comfort upgrade - get yours today!" the first two posts read, while the third added it was a "limited time offer."
Clicking on the link in the X posts opened a website where, once again, the sale price appeared (archived):

However, despite the truth behind the sale price, it was not clear why MyPillow or Lindell chose to sell the standard pillow for $14.88.
On Sept. 23, the tabloid newspaper New York Post said it contacted Lindell and highlighted the number's link to neo-Nazis. The MyPillow CEO reportedly said he had "no idea what this is all about," and added that the 88 cents is a price point often used by other retailers, such as Walmart.
"We've done this many times before," Lindell seemingly told the Post. "It had nothing to do with whatever you guys are trying to make it out to be."
We contacted MyPillow to ask what Lindell knew of this specific figure before posting this sale price, whether someone else within the company chose the number, and what the company intended to do given the ongoing backlash. This story will be updated if we receive a response. As of this writing, despite days of criticism, the company maintained the sale price.
Snopes previously looked into whether a photo showed Lindell at a rally for former U.S. President Donald Trump, of whom the MyPillow CEO is a supporter.
