The person in the viral video is not Shah Rukh Khan. It’s his lookalike Ibrahim Qadri, who has been mistaken for the superstar in the past as well.
Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film, “Pathaan”, has been at the centre of controversy for some time now. The song “Besharam Rang” earned the ire of the Hindu Right, and consequently, the film’s release has been boycotted by several groups across the country.
Amid such online and offline boycotts, a short clip purportedly showing Shah Rukh Khan dancing at a wedding ceremony made the rounds on social media. A Twitter user wrote while sharing the video, “Who is Shahrukh Khan? Dancing at Someone's wedding at the age of 60, for few bucks as paid worker. That's his Real Aukaat. That's his Real Profession. That's Shahrukh Khan. Money can't buy Honor & Class #BoycottPathaan.”

AFWA’s investigation found that the person in the viral video is not Shah Rukh Khan. It’s his lookalike, Ibrahim Qadri.
AFWA PROBE
We reverse-searched keyframes from the viral video and this led us to the same video uploaded by YouTuber Ibrahim Qadri on July 12, 2022, to his official YouTube account. The 52-second-long video was titled, “Ghunghte Mein Chanda Hai Phir Bhi Hai Phela SHAHRUKH KHAN IBRAHIM QADRI”. The video, at the time of writing this, was watched over 13 million times.
We then checked his social media accounts and found that Qadri has over 200,000 followers on Instagram. Qadri, we found, is famous for being Khan’s lookalike. In fact, there are many media reports about him being the Bollywood actor’s Doppelganger
AWFA then reached out to Qadri’s team to confirm if it was really him in the viral video. His cousin Sameer Khan and manager Aezaz Arab confirmed to AFWA that was indeed Qadri in the video and that it was shot at a wedding in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, in July 2022.
It’s noteworthy that Qadri, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the Bollywood actor, has been mistaken for the real deal earlier as well. In October 2021, many shared videos allegedly showing Khan meeting his son Aryan post his arrest. The video, however, featured Qadri and his friend Gufran Roomi. At the time, AFWA had debunked the viral claim.
