Upon fact-checking, we found this claim to be Mostly False. The Claim An Instagram video asserts that seed cycling is the natural cure for several health conditions. The claimant in the video claims that seed cycling is the natural cure for many menstrual dysfunction and even fertility. Fact Check Who is the claimant in the video? The individual presenting in the video identifies herself as a certified nutritionist and specialist in Diastasis Recti, Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, and Bhangra. However, upon verifying her certifications specifically for nutritionists, none were found. Dr Nikita Chauhan, MBBS, MD, DNB( Obstetrician and Gynecologist) said, “It’s important to carefully review the credentials of individuals or organisations providing medical information before trusting it. If their qualifications are unclear or unavailable, it’s likely that they are not a reliable source of information.” Dr. Aruna Kalra, MBBS, MD, a highly accomplished Obstetrician and Gynecologist, emphasizes the importance of advising patients to consult with doctors for clarification and resolution of their queries. She highlights that relying solely on online sources may not provide accurate and reliable information. Instead, reaching out to healthcare professionals ensures access to trustworthy guidance that can effectively address patients’ concerns. What is the seed cycle? The seed cycling method involves consuming specific seeds during different phases of the menstrual cycle to support hormonal balance. In the first half (follicular phase), flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds are typically recommended to help boost estrogen levels. During the second half (luteal phase), sesame seeds and sunflower seeds are often suggested to promote progesterone production. This practice is based on the idea that certain nutrients in these seeds can aid in hormone regulation, although scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness is limited. While anecdotal evidence suggests it may aid hormonal balance, conclusive research is lacking. It’s crucial to integrate seed cycling into a comprehensive strategy that includes other proven methods and to seek guidance from gynaecologists for personalised fertility support. Upon asking about the claim to Dr Swati Dave she said While some people say seed cycling helps boost fertility, there’s not much scientific proof yet. It’s just one part of a healthy lifestyle that includes eating well, exercising, and getting medical advice. It might work for some, but it’s important to talk to a doctor to see if it’s right for you. Everyone’s body is different, so what works for one person might not work for another. Dietitian Harita Adhvaryu said, “Seed cycling may help balance hormones, regulate periods, alleviate pain and improve fertility health, including addressing PCOS. However, promising seed cycling as a fertility solution without scientific evidence is misleading, especially for those struggling with infertility for years. Nonetheless, seeds provide valuable nutrients for fertility support, and seed cycling carries no known physical harm or side effects, making it a safe consideration.”
