  • A video is going viral showing a truck carrying huge temple bells with a claim that the bells were manufactured by the public sector company — Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) — in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. The clam reads: “BHEL Trichy has made these bells for Ayodhya temple being despatched to Ayodhyadham (Rama Temple) Write Jai Shree Ram in comment box and Share it as a devotee. भारत हैवी इलेक्ट्रिकल्स, त्रिचुरापल्ली में निर्माण कर अयोध्या मंदिर को भेजे जा रहे हैं ये सभी घंटे जय श्री राम लिख कर शेयर करें (Translated it reads: All these bells are being manufactured by Bharat Heavy Electricals, Trichurapalli, and being sent to Ayodhya temple. Write Jai Shri Ram and share). FACT CHECK Digiteye India team took it up for fact-checking as BHEL is a public sector undertaking (PSU) and no xuvch report appeared in any news outlets. When searched with the visual key frames on Google Reverse Image Search, the results showed us that the original video was uploaded last month by Mojo Story, where 42 temple bells were shown being transported from Tamil Nadu. Further search on Google News revealed that a Bengaluru-based devotee by name Rajendra Prasad had given the order to Andal Moulding Works, on Mohanur Road in Namakkal district for 48 bells for Ram Mandir. The report said the first batch of 42 bells were completed and placed at the Anjaneyar temple in Namakkal for prayers before being shipped to Bengaluru. The news reports can be seen here and here . However, there is no mention of BHEL, a PSU, as the manufacturer in any of these news reports. Any such order for BHEL would have been covered widely in news reports. Hence, the claim is false. Claim: A BHEL unit in Trichy, Tamil Nadu manufactured huge bells for Ram Mandir. Conclusion: These bells were manufactured by Andal Moulding Works, Mohanur Road in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu and not by BHEL, Trichy as claimed. Rating: Misrepresentation —
