  • Fact Check: Leader distributing liquor and chicken belongs to TRS, not BJP Some internet users shared the video with a caption that claims that the Telangana BJP chief ministerial candidate was distributing liquor and chicken. Jai Modi government. A video of a leader distributing liquor along with live chicken is being shared with captions in various languages, claiming that the BJP leaders were giving away liquor and chicken to get votes in elections. Some internet users shared the video with a caption that claims that the Telangana BJP chief ministerial candidate was distributing liquor and chicken. Jai Modi government. A few others shared the same video claiming that the incident occurred in Gujarat. Fact check: The claim that a BJP leader is distributing liquor and chicken is MISLEADING. In fact, the original video showed a TRS leader distributing liquor. When the keyframes extracted from the video were searched using Google reverse image search, we found that the leader seen in the video belonged to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party which was recently renamed as Bharat Rashtra Samithi. Elevating the regional party in Telangana as a national political outfit, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao changed its name to Bharat Rashtra Samithi on October 5, 2022. Ahead of the launch of BRS, TRS leader Rajanala Srihari distributed liquor bottles and chicken on October 4, 2022. A video published by the YouTube channel of Indian Express shows the same visuals as seen in the viral video with the caption – TRS leader distributes liquor bottles and chicken ahead of Telangana CM's national party launch. The description of the video clearly states, "Ahead of the launch of the national party by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, TRS leader Rajanala Srihari on October 4 distributed liquor bottles and chicken to locals in Warangal." According to an article in indiatoday.in, in a video, Rajanala Srihari can be seen standing next to garlanded cutouts of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, his son and party leader K.T. Rama Rao. Rajanala Srihari is seen distributing liquor bottles and chicken to the public, standing in a long queue in Warangal. About 200 bottles of quarter alcohol and 200 chicken were distributed, as part of the celebrations. The same video was shared by ANI Twitter account also with the caption "#WATCH | TRS leader Rajanala Srihari distributes liquor bottles and chicken to locals ahead of Telangana CM KC Rao launching a national party tomorrow, in Warangal" Hence, the leader in the video belongs to the TRS party and is from Warangal, Telangana and not a BJP leader. The claim is MISLEADING.
