  • FACT CHECK: Did Joe Biden’s Domestic Policy Adviser Tweet In Support Of Hitler In 2016? A post shared on Twitter purports President Joe Biden’s domestic policy adviser Neera Tanden published a tweet in support of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler in 2016. This is a real tweet from Biden’s new domestic policy adviser, Neera Tanden pic.twitter.com/hGLBS93OCn — Gritty is the Way (@Gritty20202) May 5, 2023 Verdict: False An advanced Twitter search does not generate any results for the purported remark. There is no evidence Tanden published the comment. Fact Check: Tanden said she was “so excited” about her new role in Biden’s administration, according to the National Herald. In addition to working in Biden’s administration, Tanden worked on 2016 presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s campaign, Forbes reported. “Hitler was certainly controversial but nobody gives him proper credit for fighting to the death against Communism,” the purported remark attributed to Tanden reads. “This is a real tweet from Biden’s new domestic policy adviser, Neera Tanden,” the Twitter post, viewed over 200,000 times, purports. The claim is false. An advanced Twitter search does not generate any results for the purported remark. Likewise, the White House has neither referenced the claim on its website nor its verified social media accounts. In addition, Tanden has not publicly addressed the claim on her government Twitter account. Furthermore, the false tweet attributed to Tanden previously circulated online in 2020, according to Truth or Fiction. (RELATED: Did Joe Biden Reject A Gift From The Air Force Football Team?) The claim appears to have circulated again online following the news that Tanden will replace Susan Rice as Biden’s White House domestic policy adviser. Prior to accepting the role, Tanden served as a senior adviser in Biden’s administration, according to CNN. Tanden also was nominated to run the U.S. Office of Management and Budget but withdrew her nomination, the outlet indicated. Biden said he was “pleased to announce” Tanden had been appointed to succeed Rice in a statement, The Hill reported. Check Your Fact has contacted the White House for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
