| - An aerial video of a train travelling through a mountainous landscape adjacent to a river has gone viral on social media.
Those sharing the video claim it shows the train journey from Haridwar to Karnaprayag in Uttarakhand, India.
What we found: At first, we divided the video into multiple screenshots and ran a Google reverse image on some of them.
We came across a similar clip on People's Daily Facebook page. It was uploaded on 16 October 2024 and featured the same visuals as the viral video.
The caption of the post read, "Tunnel after tunnel, a moving train passes through the mountainous landscape, unfolding a beautiful sight in Cili County, central China's Hunan Province. #BeautifulChina" (sic.)
We compared both the frames and found some similarities.
We also found posts on social media which stated that the video was from China. You can view some of them here and here.
For further input, we checked the terrain on Google Earth and found some similarities.
About Haridwar-Karnaprayag Rail Line: According to a report by the Financial Express, the rail route is set to become operational by December 2026.
Spanning 125.2 kilometres, it will traverse twelve stations and seek to improve accessibility to Uttarakhand's pilgrimage sites and strengthen the state's tourism and economy.
