  • Fact Check Viral Video Of Parsi Woman Giving Birth To 11 Boys In Surat Is False A video purportedly showing doctors performing a caesarean operation on a woman is going viral on social media, claiming that the woman, who belongs to the Parsi community, delivered 11 sons at the Nanpura Hospital in Surat, Gujarat. Twitter user @KalluriShivaraj was among the several users who shared the video with the caption ‘Successful delivery in Surat’s Nanpura Hospital: A Parsi girl gave birth to 11 sons, this is the first incident in the world, all the sons are safe.’ Newschecker advises viewer discretion, as the video is graphic in nature. Newschecker conducted a Google reverse image search on the key-frames of the viral video to ascertain its authenticity and found a video posted on Instagram by Turkish doctor Banu İnce Demirpençe on 11th July, 2018, same as the video going viral on social media. The caption of the post when translated from Turkish into English using Google Translate reads “Two gynaecologists at jet speed, you didn’t see anything wrong. She gave birth to 6 angels.. Their weight is good and they all look healthy.. I don’t know the source of the video, but I wish the birth team who followed and gave birth, I wish good luck and patience to the mother and father. I hope they are aware of how lucky they are… I guess if they had come to me, I wouldn’t have been able to get any other angels, they would have closed the clinic that day.. I didn’t think it would take all day for these 6 angels to have their examinations. Isn’t it a miracle?’ Newschecker also found the video posted on a website called Aparat 2 years ago along with the caption ‘At the time of delivery, the twins are both boys’. Newschecker could not find the origin of this video but it has been posted on the internet multiple times in the last few years. Upon further investigation, Newschecker found an article by Times of India uploaded on 11th November, 2011 on their website with the headline ‘11 IVF babies to be delivered on 11-11-11 in the city’. According to the report, “A city-based In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) centre will undertake operations on 11 would-be mothers to schedule the births of their babies on Friday 11-11-11. About 30 women had conceived through IVF nine months ago. Of them, 11 couples wanted the delivery on this special date.” The report clearly states that all 11 babies were born of 11 different mothers and the incident is not related to the video. Conclusion According to the investigation conducted by Newschecker, an older video of a woman giving birth to multiple babies is being passed off as a recent video of a Parsi woman delivering 11 sons.
