New Delhi (Vishvas News). A video of actress Sunny Leone is going viral on social media, showing her filming at a ghat. Some users are sharing this video with the claim that it is from the Maha Kumbh.
Vishvas News in its investigation found the viral claim to be misleading. Actually this video of Leone is from the year 2023, when she went to Varanasi for the promotion of her music album. The video is being falsely linked to Maha Kumbh.
What is going viral?
Facebook user ‘Manish Kumar’ (archive link) shared the video on 21 February 2025 and wrote, “Purifying herself from all sins, here comes everyone’s favorite Sunny Leone.”
Many users on social media have shared this video with the same claim.
Investigation
To investigate the viral video, we searched its screenshots using Google Lens. We found the report related to the viral video on the website of Dainik Jagran. The report, published on 17 November 2023, stated “Sunny Leone had reached Varanasi for the promotion of a music album. During this, she visited Baba Vishwanath temple and also attended Ganga Aarti.”
We found the viral video on the official YouTube channel of Zee News. According to the details provided with the video uploaded on November 17, 2023, it was filmed in Varanasi.
We also found the viral video on Sunny Leone’s official X handle. The video was shared on 3 December 2023.

We shared the video with Dainik Jagran’s Varanasi editor in-charge Basant Kumar. He told us that this video is from Varanasi, but is old. Sunny Leone had come for the promotion of her album.
Finally, we scanned the account of the user who made the video viral with a misleading claim. We found that the user is followed by more than 6 thousand people. The user has described himself as a resident of Samastipur, Bihar.
Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated and found that the claim being made about Sunny Leone’s viral video is misleading. The viral video is from the year 2023, when she went to Varanasi to promote her music album. Video is now falsely linking to Maha Kumbh.
