Please inform senior citizens belonging to your families and friends.” There is a link in the message – “www.airindia.com/senior- Fact Check: The message is false. Air India Tata is not providing 50% concession to senior citizens, they are providing 25% concession. The link provided in the message is not working. When we searched with the keywords “Air India Tata providing 50% concession in airfare”, we found a concession page on the website of Air India that clearly states that 25% of the basic fare is on select booking classes in the economy cabin. The website states that “a concessionary discount of 25% of basic fare. This is applicable in selected booking classes of economy cabins”. The travellers need to buy the tickets at least 3 days before departure to get the concession. According to reports, Air India started a discount scheme for senior citizens in December 2020. It introduced a special offer of up to 50% discount on flight tickets. For availing the discount offer run by Air India, senior citizens have to buy flight tickets at least 3 days in advance. Air India reduced the discount offereto 25% in September 2022. According to Economic Times and others, the airline decided to revise the concessionary fare to 25% after September 29, 2022, considering the overall market situation and dynamics. https://www.livemint.com/news/ Therefore, the message claiming that Air India is giving concessions up to 50% on the flight ticket fare for senior citizens is false.
