  • Fact Check: Taylor Swift Did Not Call ‘Los Angeles Fire’ Revenge for Gaza Bombing, Viral Video Is A Deepfake Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral video has been altered, with its audio manipulated. This video is a deepfake, where Taylor Swift’s audio has been wrongly modified using AI. She did not make these statements. - By: Pallavi Mishra - Published: Jan 16, 2025 at 04:19 PM New Delhi (Vishvas News). So far, 24 people have died in the devastating wildfire that has ravaged the forests of Los Angeles, USA. Reports estimate the financial damage caused by the disaster to be around 13 lakh crore rupees. Amid this disaster, a video has gone viral on social media allegedly showing pop singer Taylor Swift claiming that the Los Angeles wildfire is a payback to the US for supporting Israel on Gaza bombings. Vishvas News investigated the claim and found it to be fake. This video is a deepfake, with Taylor Swift’s audio altered using AI. She has not given this statement. What is going viral The Facebook page ‘M S H Adnan’ posted the video on January 15 (archive link) with the caption “Now even non-Muslims are openly declaring that the fire in Los Angeles and California is actually God’s punishment and God’s revenge. This American lady considers this fire to be the result of Israel’s genocide on Gaza and American financial aid.” Investigation To investigate the viral claim, Vishvas News conducted a Google reverse image search on keyframes from the video. We found several clips of the original video uploaded on ‘The Tonight Show’ Starring Jimmy Fallon’s YouTube channel on November 12, 2021. It was evident that the original video was from Jimmy Fallon’s ‘The Tonight Show’ on November 12, 2021, when he interviewed Taylor Swift. At that time, neither the Los Angeles fire nor the recent attacks on Gaza had started. These recent attacks began after the Hamas terrorist air strike on Israel on October 7, 2023. Next, we searched using keywords to see if Swift had made any such statement recently but we did not find any authentic report supporting this claim. Additionally, we examined the video closely and noticed a discrepancy between the lip movements and the audio, which raised suspicion that the video might be AI-generated. We contacted our partner DAU (an initiative of MCA) regarding the viral video. DAU’s expert team analysed the video and found that Hive’s audio detection tool indicated a high confidence level of AI tampering in the first 20 seconds of the audio track. Additionally, the Hiya tool also indicated a 99% probability of this audio track being AI-generated.” We also contacted AI expert and researcher Azhar Machwe regarding this video and he also confirmed that the audio in the video has been changed. At the end of the investigation, while scanning the social media account of Facebook user ‘M S H Adnan’, we found that the user has over 5000 followers. Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral video has been altered, with its audio manipulated. This video is a deepfake, where Taylor Swift’s audio has been wrongly modified using AI. She did not make these statements. - Claim Review : Taylor Swift Call 'Los Angeles Fire' Revenge for Gaza Bombing - Claimed By : Facebook page ‘M S H Adnan’ - Fact Check : False Know the truth!
