  • FACT CHECK: No, Video Doesn’t Show USS Abraham Lincoln On Fire After Houthi Attack A video shared on X claims to show the USS Abraham Lincoln on fire after a Houthi attack. Footage purportedly shows the aftermath of the Yemeni resistance attack on the American aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea, with multiple cruise missiles and drones. pic.twitter.com/MPnmyBEsXW — PressTV Extra (@PresstvExtra) November 13, 2024 Verdict: False The video is likely from 2020 and shows the USS Bonhomme Richard on fire in San Diego. Fact Check: The Houthis claimed to have targeted the Lincoln and two destroyers in separate attacks on Nov. 12, according to the BBC News. The Pentagon confirmed that two destroyers were attacked by drones and missiles but stated that the attack was defeated and nobody was attacked, the outlet reported. Social media users are sharing a video of a burning ship, claiming it shows the Lincoln. One user wrote, “Footage purportedly shows the aftermath of the Yemeni resistance attack on the American aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea, with multiple cruise missiles and drones.” Through a reverse image and keyword search, Check Your Fact found that the video likely shows the USS Bonhomme Richard. The warship was in San Diego, and it was not hit by any missile while it was in dock. “More than 20 people suffered minor injuries on Sunday after an explosion and fire on board a ship at a naval base in San Diego, military officials said. The blaze was reported shortly before 9am on USS Bonhomme Richard, said Mike Raney, a spokesman for the navy’s Pacific fleet. Four civilians and 17 sailors were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Raney said,” reads the video description. There is no evidence the Houthis attacked the USS Abraham Lincoln. A defense official told Check Your Fact on Nov. 12 that “we are not tracking any attacks on the USS Abraham Lincoln at this time.” (RELATED: Elon Musk Didn’t Post ‘Last Dollar’ For Zelenskyy)
