Illegal immigrants aboard a US military aircraft being used for deportation.
A United States military plane on Monday reportedly began deporting Indian migrants, implementing President Donald Trump’s position against an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the country. Previous deportation flights have sent migrants to Guatemala, Peru, and Honduras.

Newschecker ran a reverse image search, which led us to the same photo featured in several news reports, seen here and here, from August 2021. “Evacuees crowd the interior of a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft, carrying some 640 Afghans to Qatar from Kabul, Afghanistan August 15, 2021,” read the caption of the photo in a Business Insider report, dated August 17, 2021 and credited to Reuters via Defense One, a news outlet dedicated to US defense and national security.
“An extraordinary image has emerged showing hundreds of Afghans packed into a US military cargo plane, in a desperate attempt to flee Kabul after the fall of the capital to the Taliban,” read a Guardian report, dated August 17, 2021, featuring the same photo.
A U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III safely reportedly evacuated some 640 Afghans from Kabul late Sunday, according to U.S. defense officials and photos obtained by Defense One, and believed to be among the most people ever flown in the C-17, a massive military cargo plane that has been operated by the U.S. and its allies for nearly three decades.
Newschecker learnt that the last C-17 military cargo aircraft departed Hamid Karzai International Airport on August 30, 2021, according to U.S. Marine Corps General Kenneth McKenzie, completing a massive evacuation effort that flew more than 116,000 people out of Afghanistan over the previous two weeks as the US ended 20-year war in Afghanistan.
