| - In November 2024, just days before the U.S. presidential election, a purported X post from former lawmaker Liz Cheney went viral, in which she allegedly said former U.S. President Donald Trump had "Daffy Duck disease."
She appeared to be responding to Trump's comments on Oct. 31, 2024, when at a campaign event, he called her a "war hawk," "a deranged person" and suggested she should have guns "trained on her face."
Cheney's purported post on X stated, "Donald Trump is now literally threatening to have me killed. If you don't want to live in a banana republic run by a senile man, with some sort of Daffy Duck disease, vote for Kamala."

While Trump did indeed make the above comments about Cheney, the screenshot of her X post is fake. Cheney did not make such a post on her verified X account, nor did she use the above words to describe Trump. She did, however, respond to Trump's statement by calling him a "tyrant." As such, we rate this claim as fake.
The above screenshot had a number of spelling errors. We also noticed that it was not posted by Cheney's own verified X account, but by @Liz_Choney, an account that does not exist. The screenshot is also labeled as a "parody."
There was no evidence of such a post calling Trump "a senile man" with "Daffy Duck disease" on Cheney's official X account. Cheney did have a response to Trump's comments, however. On Nov. 1, 2024, her X account posted, "This is how dictators destroy free nations. They threaten those who speak against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant. #Womenwillnotbesilenced #VoteKamala"
Cheney, a fellow Republican, has been a vocal critic of Trump for years. She is the daughter of former Republican U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, who also criticized Trump in 2022. Trump, in his Oct. 31 remarks, pointed out Dick Cheney did not support his presidential run, and then said, "his daughter is a very dumb individual."
"She's a radical war hawk," Trump continued. "Let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let's see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained to her face."
