  • FACT CHECK: No, Taylor Swift Did Not Cry On Live TV After Donald Trump Won Election A post shared on Threads claims singer Taylor Swift broke down in tears after President-elect Donald Trump won the 2024 election. View on Threads Verdict: False There is no evidence for this claim. Fact Check: Swift’s songs on Spotify have seen an uptick in streaming numbers since Trump won the 2024 presidential election last week, according to Newsweek. She endorsed Trump’s opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, in September, who is on track to have the worst Electoral College result for a Democratic nominee since 1988, the outlet reported. A post shared on Threads alleges Swift cried on television after learning Trump won the election. The image shows Swift in an orange dress with her eyes shut and her mouth agape. The image’s text reads, “Taylor Swift broke down in tears on live television the moment the race was called for President Trump. Looks like Taylor was wrong about a guy again!” This claim is inaccurate, however. There are no credible news reports to corroborate the claim. At the time of writing, Swift has not acknowledged Trump’s win on her social media accounts. (RELATED: No, This Image Does Not Show Donald Trump Listening To Taylor Swift Album) The screenshot seen in the post can be also seen around the 3:38 timestamp of a YouTube video showing an interview Swift did with Ellen DeGeneres in 2012. The Ellen DeGeneres show’s official YouTube account also posted a clip of Swift’s appearance on the show in which she can be seen wearing the same dress. This is not the first time misinformation involving Swift has spread online. Check Your Fact previously debunked a claim that she was named in a lawsuit against rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs that accuses him of raping a 13-year-old girl.
