The Indian Railways conducted a test run of its longest freight train, Super Vasuki, as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
Meanwhile, an image of a long goods train with hundreds of bogies is in circulation on social media with the claim that it shows a ‘Super Vasuki’ train. The caption on the image in Telugu goes: “సాధారణంగా ఓ గూడ్స్ రైలుకు 25.. లేదా మహా అయితే 50 బోగీలు ఉంటాయి. కానీ ఇక్కడ ఈ రైలుకు ఉన్నది ఏకంగా 295 బోగీలు.. ఈ భారీ అనకొండ ఏ ప్రాంతం నుంచి.. ఎక్కడి వరకు వెళ్తుందో ఇప్పుడు తెలుసుకుందామా.. ప్రపంచంలోనే నాలుగో అతిపెద్ద రైల్వే నెట్వర్క్గా భారతీయ రైల్వే పేరుగాంచింది. ప్రతీ రోజూ సుమారు 4 కోట్ల మండి ప్రయాణీకులను తమ గమ్యస్థానాలకు చేరుస్తోంది ఇండియన్ రైల్వే. ప్రపంచంలోనే అతి ఎత్తైన వంతెనపై.. అలాగే ప్రకృతి మధ్యలో నుంచి వెళ్లే రైళ్లు ఉన్నాయి. ఈ కోవలోనే భారతదేశంలో అత్యంత పొడవైన రైలు గురించి ఇప్పుడు తెలుసుకుందామా.. సాధారణంగా ఓ గూడ్స్ రైలుకు 25.. లేదా మహా అయితే 50 బోగీలు ఉంటాయి. కానీ ఇక్కడ ఈ రైలుకు ఉన్నది ఏకంగా 295 బోగీలు.. ఈ భారీ అనకొండను లాగేందుకు 6 ఇంజిన్లు పని చేస్తాయి. ఇంతకీ అదేంటంటే..
సూపర్ వాసుకి.. ఈ కార్గో రైలు పొడవు సుమారు 3.5 కిలోమీటర్లు. ఈ రైలుకు 15-20 కాదు ఏకంగా 295 కోచ్లు ఉన్నాయి. ఇక ఆ కోచ్లను లాగేందుకు 6 లోకోమోటివ్ ఇంజిన్లు పని చేస్తాయి. ఇంకా చెప్పాలంటే.. ఈ రైలు ఏ స్టేషన్ నుంచైనా దాటాలంటే.. దాదాపుగా గంట సమయం పడుతుంది. ఈ సూపర్ వాసుకి ట్రైన్ ద్వారా దేశంలోని వివిధ గనుల నుంచి సేకరించిన బొగ్గు పెద్ద విద్యుత్ ప్లాంట్లకు రవాణా చేయబడుతుంది. ఈ రైలు ఛత్తీస్గఢ్లోని కోర్బా నుంచి నాగ్పూర్లోని రాజ్నంద్గావ్ వరకు సుమారు 27 వేల టన్నుల బొగ్గును తీసుకెళ్తుంది.

The claim is misleading. The image does not show ‘Super Vasuki’.
When we searched using the keywords “Super Vasuki”, we found several news articles about India’s longest and heaviest freight train.
According to an NDTV report published on August 17, 2022, The Indian Railways tested India's longest and heaviest freight train called 'Super Vasuki' on Independence Day and its video is now going viral. The train was operated as part of the central government's Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. It is a 3.5-km-long freight train with 295 loaded wagons carrying over 27,000 tonne of coal between Korba in Chhattisgarh and Rajnandgao in Nagpur on August 15. The train has been formed by assembling five rakes of goods trains. The Indian Railways claim that it is the longest and heaviest freight train ever run by them. It is said that the train takes about four minutes to cross a station.
The amount of coal carried by Super Vasuki is enough to fire 3000 MW of power plant for one full day. This is three times the capacity of existing railway rakes (90 cars with 100 tonnes in each) which carry about 9,000 tonnes of coal in one journey. The Railways plans to use trains like these more frequently, especially to transport coal in peak demand season to prevent fuel shortages of power stations, according to news agency PTI.

When we searched the viral image using Google reverse image search, we found a few videos showing the same image.

The image was also published on Flickr, the image database with the caption “A coal train at Converse Junction, Converse Wyoming”
When we look at the image, we can see BNSF etched on the engine. When we searched for more details about BNSF, we found a LinkedIn page showing similar images of the BNSF train. Therefore, the viral image does not show the longest goods train in India, it shows a freight train belonging to BNSF. The claim is Misleading.
