A video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with several other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, sitting in an auditorium and reportedly watching the Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer Gadar-2 movie in a theatre is viral on social media. Netizens claim the video shows leaders, including Dharmendra Pradhan and S. Jaishankar, were watching the recently-released movie. A few other videos show Narendra Modi allegedly inaugurating the poster for the movie. FACT CHECK: The viral video has been edited to falsely claim that the leaders watched the movie in theatres. Clip 1: Video of BJP leaders sitting in an auditorium A reverse image search of visuals showing PM Modi and other leaders led to a video posted on Modi's official YouTube channel. The video is from the party's parliament meeting held on August 8, 2023. The viral video's visuals matched the video posted on Modi's YouTube channel. The comparison can be seen at 0.26 seconds of the video posted on YouTube. Clip 2: Video of Narendra Modi inaugurating movie poster The video of PM Modi with Sunny Deol is from November 9, 2019, when Modi visited Gurdaspur, Punjab to inaugurate the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. The footage of the event can be found on the PM’s official YouTube channel. The viral video's visuals matched the video posted on Modi's YouTube channel. The comparison can be seen at 8:38 minutes of the video posted on YouTube. The original clip was edited with the movie’s poster. Moreover, there are no news reports of PM Modi and other leaders watching Gadar-2 in the theatre.
