Social media users are sharing a post claiming that Liz Truss has said that India is a country that listens carefully to the words of uneducated politicians and babas. Vishvas News in its investigation found that this statement going viral in the name of Liz Truss is fake. Liz Truss has not made any such statement. The UK prime minister’s team has denied the viral claim. Claim: Sharing the viral post on March 10, 2023, Facebook user (archive link) Yuva Gujarat wrote in Hindi: Ashikshit netaon, babaon ki baaton ko dhyan se sunne wala desh Bharat hai. – Liz Truss (India is the country that listens carefully to the words of uneducated leaders and godmen – Liz Truss). An archived version of the post can be accessed here. Investigation: On conducting an open search with keywords on Google, we could not find any such news on any reliable media website which could confirm this claim. If Liz Truss had made such a statement, the mainstream media would have covered it. We also searched the Twitter handle of Liz Truss using Twitter advanced search, but did not find any results. We also checked her other social media accounts, but could not find any post related to the viral claim. We reached out to Liz Truss’ team via mail for more information. Her press secretary Jonathan Isabi refuted the viral claim, stating, “The viral claim is false. No such statement has been given by Liz Truss. This claim is completely false.” We scanned the profile of Facebook user ‘Yuva Gujarat’ who shared the fake post. More than 32,000 people follow the user on Facebook. On scanning the profile we found that the user is influenced by an ideology. Conclusion: Vishvas News in its investigation found that the viral statement attributed to Liz Truss is fake. Liz Truss has made no such statement.
