Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video is from a brawl that broke out between the fans of football clubs Kerala Blasters FC and Bengaluru FC after an ISL match in February. On April 17, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by eight runs in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match held at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Shortly after the game, a video of a brawl surfaced on social media, allegedly showing CSK fans beating up an RCB fan in the stadium stands. The archived version of the same post and other similar ones can be seen here and here. India Today found that the viral video is from a clash that broke out during the Indian Super League on February 11. Our Probe In the video in question, one can hear many people speaking in Malayalam. Also, in one of the frames, one can see a person wearing a number ten jersey with “RONALDINHO” written on it. At the 27-second mark, one can also see a fan wearing the number 18 jersey of Kerala Blasters FC midfielder Sahal Abdul Samad. We also noticed multiple people replying to the viral post saying that the video was from a football match between Kerala Blasters FC and Bengaluru FC. These details implied that the video was likely from an Indian Super League (ISL) match. The ISL is an Indian professional league for men's association football clubs. Kerala Blasters FC and Bengaluru FC are football clubs associated with the ISL. With the help of a keyword search, we found the same video and similar others shared on Twitter on February 12. As per these posts, the video was from a match between the aforementioned teams. Some who shared the videos at the time also pointed out that the incident was from the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The incident was also reported by multiple media organisations. As per reports, the video was from a clash that happened during a match between Kerala Blasters FC and Bengaluru FC in ISL 2023 football series, at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on February 11. Bengaluru FC won the match 1-0 against Kerala Blasters FC. According to reports, it was after this defeat that Kerala Blasters FC fans went on a rampage against Bengaluru FC fans. It is hence clear that the video in question is from an ISL match between Kerala Blasters FC and Bengaluru FC. It has nothing to do with the recent IPL match between RCB and CSK.
