  • Fact Check: This kid fears his mom more than the tiger? We tracked down the tiger to find out why A video is being widely shared, supposedly from a zoo in India where the child's t-shirt is in the jaws of a white tiger. But we found there is an interesting twist in the tiger and the kid tale. Listen to Story A video of a caged tiger grabbing the t-shirt of a minor child has gone viral on social media in India. The child seemingly screams for help and pleads with the tiger to release his t-shirt so he doesn’t get scolded by his mother. The tiger, however, keeps pulling his t-shirt across the metal net of the cage. While some doubt the video's authenticity and claim it is edited, others are demanding the immediate arrest of the person who filmed it. Some are also condemning the person who shot the video, calling them insensitive. An archived version of one such post can be seen here. India Today found that this video is neither doctored nor from India. Pakistani social media influencer Nouman Hassan created it with his pet tiger and his nephew. Our Probe Scanning through the comments, we noticed that one X user Dr. Abdul Sattar Khan pointed out that this video is from Pakistan. He also added that this child’s family owns many tigers and lions. Importing tigers, lions and other exotic animals with prior government permission is allowed in Pakistan. We contacted Dr. Abdul Sattar who lives in Hyderabad for more details. He told us that the video in question shows a tiger owned by Pakistani social media influencer Nouman Hassan. Following the clue from Dr. Abdul, we found that the viral video was indeed shared on Nouman Hassan’s YouTube channel. Nouman Hassan who lives in Islamabad and has about 11 million followers on YouTube, keeps on sharing playful videos with his pet tigers. We found multiple videos on Nouman’s social media accounts featuring the same child from the viral video interacting with lions and tigers. In one clip, the child is seen holding a tiger by its chain. This time, the tiger is not even behind a cage. Suddenly, the tiger grabs the child’s shoe. The child laughs, playfully taps the tiger’s face, and says again, “If it gets damaged, my mother will scold me.” In another video, the child is seen riding the tiger so confidently as if it's a stuffed toy. We contacted Nouman, who told India Today that the video was filmed in Islamabad and features his nephew, Asad. “This video is scripted, and the tiger is our pet. I own 25 lions and tigers, which I imported from Africa. All these animals are kept on my breeding farm.” When asked about taming these animals, he added, “When you raise an animal from childhood, it naturally gets tamed. They recognise you and do not harm you. Sometimes we get scratched with their nails, but they have never tried to attack us.” According to a report by Hindustan Times , in Pakistan, it is quite easy to import exotic animals. Owning such animals, especially big cats, has become a symbol of wealth and power in Pakistan.
