The video is being shared with the claim that the UP Police arrested a stone pelter who attacked a train en route to Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh. However, Vishvas News conducted an investigation and found this claim false. The video has no connection with the Mahakumbh. The actual footage is from West Bengal, showing an alleged clash between Trinamool workers and the police. What is going viral? Twitter user ‘Deep Sanatani Rashtravadi’ shared the viral video on February 2, 2025, with the caption, “People pelting stones on trains going to Maha Kumbh Prayagraj are being dragged out of their homes like pigs.” Check the archived link of the post here. Investigation To verify the authenticity of the viral post, we extracted several key frames from the video with the help of the Invid tool and searched them on Google Lens. We found the clip in a news report uploaded on the YouTube channel of TV9 Bangla, uploaded on January 28, 2025. According to the information available, the video is from Suri in West Bengal. After searching with relevant keywords, we found several news reports about this incident. According to reports, the incident took place on January 28, 2025, in the Suri area of Birbhum district, West Bengal. The police intervened to control a clash between two factions of the Trinamool Congress over a land dispute. According to reports, on January 28, 2025, 20 people, including local TMC youth leaders, were arrested in a clash between two factions of the Trinamool Congress over government land in Suri, Birbhum. During the incident, TMC worker Amir Ansari grabbed the collar of the inspector in charge, prompting the police to retaliate. During our investigation, we found the video uploaded on several other YouTube channels with the same information. For further confirmation, we contacted Dainik Jagran’s Kolkata Bureau Chief JK Vajpayee, who confirmed that this video is from the Suri area of Birbhum district, where the police intervened after a dispute on January 28, 2025. There have been some incidents of stone pelting on trains going to the 2025 Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, but there have been no reports of such police action. Finally, we scanned the account of user Pradeep Sanatani Rashtrawadi who shared the video with the false claim. and found that the user has around 1500 followers. Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that the viral claim is false. The video has no connection with the Maha Kumbh.
