Quick Take
A social media post claims COVID vaccines are unsafe and ineffective against the infection in humans. We fact-checked and found the claim to be False.
The Claim
An Instagram post features a black-and-white photo of two boxers, with text underneath. The text under the boxer throwing a punch reads “3 entire years of Covid vaccine propaganda,” while the text under the other boxer who is dodging reads “Me.”
The post has received 306 likes till we last checked.
Fact Check
Did FDA say COVID vaccines are unsafe and ineffective?
No. FDA never released any official statement claiming COVID vaccines are unsafe and ineffective for humans. The FDA website continues to recommend people four types of COVID vaccines approved or authorized for emergency use.
It seems like the claimed post is using the image of the boxers to illustrate the idea that there has been an ongoing effort to promote Covid-19 vaccines for the past three years and that the person posting the image is someone who is skeptical of that effort and chooses to “dodge” the propaganda.
It’s worth noting, however, that the Covid-19 pandemic did not start until late 2019 and vaccines have only been available since 2021, so the idea of three years of Covid vaccine propaganda seems inaccurate.
We researched to understand the reason behind the spread of the claimed post on social media. As a result, we found FDA has recently announced to ban monovalent COVID vaccines. This has raised concerns about the effectiveness or safety of the COVID-19 vaccines. However, FDA is currently promoting bivalent COVID vaccines as they can fight against multiple variants of COVID infection which monovalent ones are unable to do. THIP MEDIA has debunked the FDA ban on COVID-19 vaccines in 2023 in another story.
