  • Fact Check: Video showing a path in the sea makes a false claim that it was created by Moses A video of a sandy path where people are seen walking, where the tides are seen flushing from both sides is in circulation on social media with the claim that it shows the path Moses carved through an ocean. Claim :The video shows the sea where a path was created by Moses to escape from the Pharoah’s army Fact :The video does not show the sea Moses walked through, it is an island in China A video of a sandy path where people are seen walking, where the tides are seen flushing from both sides is in circulation on social media with the claim that it shows the path Moses carved through an ocean. The claim in Urdu goes “بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم یہ وہ باہر ہے جس میں حضرت موسی علیہ السلام نے راستہ بنایا پیچھے فرعون" When translated, it claims: “In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Merciful, this is the outside in which Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him) made his way behind Pharaoh” Fact Check: The claim is False. The video shows an island called Fishbone-shaped sandbank in Qixia village in Dongshan County, Southeast China. When we searched the key frames extracted from the video using Google reverse image search, we found a few posts published confirming the video shows an island from China. The same video was published by onenewspage.com and also newsr.in with the title “This is fishbone sandbar of Dongshan island” The same video was also published on Facebook page of China Plus Culture, with title “Fishbone-shaped sandbank hooks tourists with "miracle" lore” and description “Yugu Shazhou, which translates as "fishbone-shaped sandbank," in Fujian's Dongshan Island, has been attracting hordes of tourists with its natural beauty and catchy name. Local fishermen say the moniker relates to a natural "miracle" whereby this uniquely-shaped sandbank appears as if by magic whenever the tide goes out. #Autumn #FunChina”
