  • As the hearing by The Supreme Court is going on over the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a claim appeared on social media on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, stating that the Supreme Court had granted interim bail to him till June 7, 2024. बड़ी खबर : सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने अरविन्द केजरीवाल को 7 जून तक अंतरिम जमानत दी!!#ArvindKejriwal #3rdPhaseLoksabhaElection pic.twitter.com/JKbH500zIP — Netttu_17🇮🇳 (@netu017) May 7, 2024 बड़ी खबर : सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने अरविन्द केजरीवाल को 7 जून तक अंतरिम जमानत दी!#ArvindKejriwal #3rdPhaseLoksabhaElection — 🇮🇳 Vishal JyotiDev Agarwal 🇮🇳 (@JyotiDevSpeaks) May 7, 2024 The claim saind in Hindi, “बड़ी खबर : सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने अरविन्द केजरीवाल को 7 जून तक अंतरिम जमानत दी!”{Translated, it reads:”Big news: Supreme Court grants interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal till June 7!”]. FACT CHECK Since the news reports clearly said that the Supreme Court had deferred the final verdict to May 10, 2024, we took it up for fact-checking and found that the claim was false. In fact, on May 8, 2024 (Wednesday), the Supreme Court bench said that it may pass an order on Friday May 10 on the question of granting an interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who had been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the excise policy scam case on March 15, 2024. When the case challenging Kejriwal’s arrest reached the Supreme Court, as per the news reports, the court had said: “We may grant or we may not grant. But we must be open to you as neither side should be taken by surprise.” Several news reports clearly quoted the wording of the two-judge bench with headlines –“Kejriwal failed to get any relief from the top court” or “Supreme Court defers order on Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s interim bail plea.” Hence, the claim is false. The Supreme Court bench will deliver its verdict tomorrow, May 10, 2024 on the question of Kejriwal’s arrest and his release on interim bail. Claim: Supreme Court grants interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal till June 7 Conclusion: The claim is false. The Supreme Court bench will deliver its final verdict on May 10, 2024 and Kejriwal was not released on bail as of May 9, 2024. Rating: Mileading —
