  • FACT CHECK: Did Trump Tweet That ‘The Next 30 To 60 Days Will Be The Biggest Draining Of The Swamp Ever’? An image shared on Facebook purportedly shows a tweet from President Donald Trump that reads, “The next 30 to 60 days will be the biggest draining of the swamp ever!” Verdict: False There is no record of Trump tweeting or deleting the statement. The tweet appears to come from a hoax account. Fact Check: The tweet, which was screen grabbed and posted on Facebook, masquerades as a statement from Trump, saying, “The next 30 to 60 days will be the biggest draining of the swamp ever! Enough is enough, the time has arrived!” It has been shared on QAnon pages and appears to reference Trump’s campaign promise to curb corruption in Washington. There is, however, no record of Trump tweeting the statement from his @realDonaldTrump and @POTUS Twitter accounts. Nor does it appear in ProPublica’s archive of his deleted tweets on Sept. 4 or any other date. (RELATED: Did Donald Trump Call Tammy Duckworth ‘Lieutenant Nolegs’ In A Tweet?) A closer inspection of the alleged tweets shows that it actually comes from a hoax account unaffiliated with the president. The Twitter account lacks the blue verification check mark and has a slightly different handle – @reuIDonaldTrump rather than @realDonaldTrump. It appears to have since been deleted. Politicians are often the targets of hoax Twitter accounts that social media users share as if they are genuine. Check Your Fact has previously debunked statements from accounts masquerading as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib.
