  • Fact Check: Viral video does not show US deportation but Germany police Claim : The viral video shows situation in the shopping malls in USA, police chasing those working without work permitFact : The original video is from Germany and shows police grabbing protestors at a railway station in BerlinA third batch of 112 illegal Indian immigrants from the US landed at Amritsar airport on February 16, 2025. This comes after the second batch of 119 Indians arrived at the airport a day before that. Deportations will continue every other week till all the illegal immigrants are returned to their home countries, as part of US President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal migration. Central American nation Panama is currently detaining nearly 300 migrants in a hotel in Panama City, following a deal with the United States. These migrants, from 10, mostly Asian countries including India, Iran, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China, were deported by the US but are unable to return directly to their home countries due to various logistical and diplomatic challenges. According to some reports, there are around 30 Indians among those who are detained inside the hotel in Panama. Meanwhile, a video of police personnel violently chasing a few people and grabbing them in front of a coffee shop is shared virally with the claim that this video shows the situation in the USA where the police is chasing people for working illegally without work permit. Several Indian residents are in panic because many of their loved ones are in USA and are worried about the situation there. The claim in telugu goes: “షాపింగ్ మాల్స్ కాడ ఉన్న పరిస్థితి..( వర్క్ పర్మిట్ లేకుండా ) ఇల్లీగల్ గా వర్క్ చేస్తున్న వారిని బంధిస్తున్న వీడియో #AndhraPradesh #Telangana” Here is the archive link to the claim. Fact check: The claim is False. The video is from Germany and not United States of America. When we extracted keyframes from the viral video and searched using Google reverse image search, we found a video shared by a X user on December 22, 2024 with the caption “WATCH: German police brutally harassed women for wearing a Palestinian chaffiyeh scarf in a mall in Berlin. The German police officers would grab and pull any person they saw that had a symbol of Palestine. These are the same people that talk about abuse elsewhere” We also found that the video was shared on a website named abna24.com, with the caption – Video: German police assault pro-Palestine protesters gathered in Berlin central train station. The website also states that the footage shows German police once again assaulting pro-Palestine protesters during a demonstration held at the central train station in Berlin. Therefore the viral video does not show situation of people working illegally in the USA, the claim is False.
