New Delhi (Vishvas News). A post claiming to offer benefits under the PM Internship Scheme is going viral on social media. It states that under this Scheme, the participants will get 5000 rupees every month. To apply, the users are asked to fill out a form using the link provided in the bio.
However, Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that a link provided in the post redirects to another website, to increase traffic. To apply for this scheme, candidates must visit the official website only.
What is in the viral post?
Instagram user ‘latestyojane1’ posted (archived link) on February 8, 2025, with the caption, “It is told that on filling this form before 25 February, you will get five thousand rupees every month under PM Internship Scheme, only no one in your family should have a government job. In the end, an appeal has been made to fill the form by clicking on the link given in the bio.”
Investigation
To investigate the viral claim, we searched the PM Internship Scheme using relevant keywords. According to a Jagran Josh report published on December 4, 2024, applications for the Pradhan Mantri Internship Scheme 2024 began on October 12, 2024,. This scheme offers the candidates an opportunity to join internships in top companies, offering them a stipend of 5000 rupees per month for 12 months. The eligibility criteria for this include completion of class 12th, an ITI certificate, and a Polytechnic Diploma, or Graduation. The age of the candidates should be between 21-24 years.
To apply, candidates must visit the official website https://pminternship.mca.gov.in/ . According to the information provided on the website, the beneficiaries will also receive, a lump sum amount of 6000 rupees for contingency expenses. Additionally, no member of the candidate’s family should have an annual income exceeding eight lakh rupees or have a government job. The beneficiaries will also be insured under ‘Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana’ and ‘Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana’.
Next, we analysed the viral post and discovered that the bio of this profile contained a link to a website named ‘Jobs Yojana’, which is not the official website for the PM Internship Scheme.
Regarding this, cyber expert Anuj Aggarwal, Chairman of the Center for Research on Cyber Crime and Cyber Law, stated that to avail the benefits of any scheme, one should apply by visiting the official website only. He cautioned that such phishing links can lead to financial loss and are also used to drive traffic to a website. This post also appears to be a similar attempt to increase the traffic of this website.
We scanned the Instagram profile of the user who shared the PM Internship Scheme post and discovered several videos promoting similar schemes, asking people to click on the link in the bio to avail the benefits.
Conclusion: Under the PM Internship Scheme, eligible candidates will get 5000 rupees per month for 12 months. However, one has to apply by visiting the official website only. The viral post is misleading as it appeals to click on the phishing link.
