A post is going viral on social media where a foreigner can be seen holding a placard in his hands. The text on the placard reads: ‘Kashmir files is not a movie. It’s a wake-up call for Hindus.’ Assuming this photo to be true, many social media users are sharing it. Vishvas News investigated the post and found that the viral image is fake. The placard seen in the hand of a foreigner has been edited. The original photo is from 2019, and the text on the placard read ‘stop using group pics for your dating profile.’ What’s in the viral post? Facebook user ‘Ashish Rayal’ shared this photo. See the archived version of the post here. Investigation Starting our investigation, we first searched for the viral image using Google reverse image. We found this picture uploaded on a verified Instagram handle named ‘dudewithsign’ on November 25, 2019. But in this picture, the color of the person’s t-shirt was not red, and also something else was written on the placard. On the placard in this photo was written “stop using group pics for your dating profile.” On investigating Instagram handle dudewithsign, we found out that the person appearing in this picture and running this account is Seth Phillips. We found many news reports about Seth Phillips. We searched the entire Instagram handle of dudewithsign but we did not find any post related to The Kashmir Files movie anywhere. Now it is clear that the picture that is going viral is edited. But for confirmation, we have contacted Seth Phillips by mail. This news will be updated as soon as the reply comes from there. In the social scanning of user Ashish Rayal, who shared the post with the fake claim, we came to know that the user is a resident of Rishikesh. Conclusion: Vishvas News investigated the post and found that the picture that is going viral is fake.
