Kiran Bedi is Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. The viral message is totally false.
A message is being shared widely on social media claiming that former IPS officer Kiran Bedi has been appointed as the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir.
BJP MLA from Gujarat Bhanuben Babariya also shared the same message and congratulated Kiran Bedi.
India Today Anti-Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found that the viral message is totally false. Kiran Bedi has been serving as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry since May 2016.
The message is doing the rounds on social media from the last two weeks. Believing the viral message to be true, netizens have started congratulating Kiran Bedi for the new position.
As per the official website of J&K government, Satya Pal Malik is the Governor of J&K. Satya Pal Malik was appointed as the governor of the state in August 2018. The Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry is Kiran Bedi. She was appointed in May 2016. Twitter profile of Kiran Bedi also shows that she is the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
We also scanned the internet thoroughly but couldn’t any media report related to the appointment of Kiran Bedi as J&K Governor.
