A post shared on Facebook purports former President Donald Trump declared that there are “MAGA traitors everywhere.” Verdict: False The claim stems from a satirical website. There is no evidence suggesting Trump made such a statement. Fact Check: Trump campaigned for Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and Senate candidate Blake Masters Oct. 9 in Mesa, AZ Central reported. The former president also campaigned for Republican Nevada Senate candidate Adam Laxalt and gubernatorial candidate Joe Lombardo in Minden the previous day, according to Newsweek. The Facebook post claims Trump purportedly said there are “MAGA traitors everywhere” in response to supporters who have allegedly pled guilty for their involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump also supposedly accused the 919 people who have been charged in the attack as “bowing to [President Joe] Biden and [Attorney General] Merrick Garland under pressure,” according to an anonymous source. The claim is false. There are no credible news reports suggesting the former president made such a remark. Likewise, there is no mention of the claim on Trump’s TRUTH Social Profile and he did not mention the purported claim during campaign rallies he held in Nevada or Arizona on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9 respectively. The claim stems from an Oct. 8 article published by the website, “Real Raw News.” A disclaimer included on the site’s “About Us” page indicates it contains “humor, parody, and satire.” (RELATED: Did Trump Say Dark Times Are Ahead?) Check Your Fact has contacted a Trump spokesperson for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received. False claims regarding the former president have circulated on social media as the midterms approach. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim suggesting Trump and his wife, Melania, had divorced.
