It was a parody created by a Twitter user Food delivery platform Zomato announced the launch of a ‘Pure Veg Mode’ service to cater specifically to customers who have a pure vegetarian dietary preference. This specialized service promises to exclusively deliver food from vegetarian restaurants and delivered by vegetarian delivery personnel. However, the company had to face severe backlash from social media users online. After this controversy online, an advertisement relating to Swiggy has gone viral on social media platform. The caption of the ad says ‘Eviction-safe food delivery’. The text on the image goes on to say “In Indian neighborhoods, your dietary preferences are best kept private. Our delivery fleet doesn’t leak your private habits to the world. You also save some money as "we don’t have to pay for the life insurance of our delivery staff against possible mob lynchings.” Fact Check: The claim is False. Swiggy did not release any such ad. Upon keyword search, we found that an X (Twitter) user had shared the same image with a ‘/s’ in the comments. Later gave clarification that he created the image on a satirical note, but it was misunderstood. He later clarified that the image is not an authentic ad by Swiggy. It is sarcasm/ satire/ parody. Swiggy also responded to these claims on its X (Twitter) account stating ‘We came across a fake ad this morning regarding a recent controversy. If it isn’t already obvious, this is NOT an ad by Swiggy. It was neither created by us nor anybody affiliated with Swiggy. Kindly refrain from circulating or attributing it to Swiggy”. Several media websites also confirmed that the ad was not published by Swiggy. Hence, the claim that Swiggy published an advertisement making a mockery of the new vegetarian model of Zomato is False.
