While no casualties were reported, a case was filed against several coaching centre tutors including Patna’s famous ‘Khan Sir’ for allegedly inciting the violence. It is in this context, social media users have shared a video of Khan Sir claiming that it instigated the students. Newschecker has, however, found that the viral video is from 2020 and is being shared out of context. In the video Khan Sir can be heard saying in Hindi that the government should thank God for coronavirus, else students would have taken to the streets. “But if this continues, I guarantee that the students will be on streets, and if they don’t come, swear on Bharat Mata, we will take to the streets,” he can be heard saying Also Read: Viral Images Claiming To Show Police Crackdown On Protests Over RRB NTPC Tests Are From 2018 Newschecker conducted a Google reverse image search for the key frames of the viral video. We came across a video uploaded on a YouTube channel called ‘Nirala Kumar 07’ on September 1, 2020 with the title ‘Speak up for Railway and S.S.C Student Khan Sir.’ At 13:05 minutes into the video we find Khan Sir saying the same line as seen in the viral video. We further looked up keywords ‘Khan Sir Speak Up For Railway’ on YouTube and found a video uploaded on Khan’s Sir official channel on August 31, 2020 with the title ‘Policy of SSC, Railway | Speak up for SSC Railway students | Khan Sir.’ In the 20 minute long video, Khan Sir is heard talking about delay in recruitment process for SSC-Railway vacancies. Newschecker found the viral clip at 13:05 minutes in the video. The viral clip of Khan Sir that is being shared on social media with the claim that it instigated students for the recent RRB NTPC protest is from August 2020.
