Fact At least four-year-old video shared in false context. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Rajasthan’s Jalore on Sunday, as a part of the BJP’s political campaign for the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections. In this context, multiple social media users shared a video of a massive crowd flooding a road, linking it to the PM Modi’s rally in Jalore. Newschecker found that the video is at least four-year-old, and has been shared in a false context. The video is being widely shared on social media platforms with a claim to show “visuals before PM Modi’s rally in Jalore.” Such posts can be seen here, here, here and here. Rajasthan, which is full of patriotism, knows that Congress can never make India strong…The Congress has hollowed out the country by spreading termites of nepotism and corruption. And today the country is angry with the Congress and is punishing it for these sins.” We skimmed through the comment sections of X posts carrying the viral footage, and found multiple users pointing out that the video is actually from a 2019 Congress rally in Ramseen, Jalore. Taking a clue, we looked up keywords “रामसीन” and “कांग्रेस” on Facebook, and set the time period of the search to 2019. This yielded a post by @mangilalvishnoi043, dated April 25, 2019. Carrying the viral video, the post stated that the visuals are from a Congress rally in Jalore’s Ramseen. Congress leader and former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot had shared visuals from the meeting on his official X account. We also found that the viral footage was uploaded to YouTube by SVG CSO on April 26, 2019 with the caption “Ramseen (Jalore) Congress Meeting (25/04/2019)” However, we could not independently verify whether the video is from the 2019 Congress rally in Jalore or not.
