  • Fact Check: Viral Image Misidentifies Henry Kissinger As George Soros with PM Modi Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that an old photo of PM Modi and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is being shared with a false claim. - By: Ashish Maharishi - Published: Dec 20, 2024 at 02:17 PM New Delhi (Vishvas News). There was a significant commotion in the Parliament recently after the allegations of connections between American businessman George Soros and the Gandhi family. Amid this, a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going viral. In the photo, he can be seen talking to a person, with claims suggesting that the man alongside PM Modi is George Soros. Vishvas News investigated the viral post and found it to be fake. A false claim identified former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger as George Soros. The original picture was shared by PM Modi on his X handle in 2019. What is going viral? On December 15, 2024, Facebook user PKR shared a photo with the caption, “Rahul Gandhi – Traitor of the Highest Order conspiring with George Soros.” The content of the viral post has been reproduced here verbatim. Many users are sharing it believing it to be true. You can see the archived version of the post here. Investigation Vishvas News used the Google Lens tool to find out the truth behind the viral picture of PM Modi. In the initial search, we found an old post by PM Modi. In this post, dated October 22, 2019, the viral picture was shared with a caption in English stating, “It was a pleasure to meet Henry Kissinger. He has made pioneering contributions to international politics and diplomacy.” During the search, we found that Henry Kissinger was the former US Secretary of State. He passed away in November 2023 at the age of nearly 100. According to a report by The Hindu, Henry Kissinger was born on May 27, 1923, in Fürth, Germany and moved to the United States with his family in 1938. Upon researching George Soros, we found that he is an American businessman born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1930. Soros is listed among the richest people in the world. Born in a prosperous Jewish family, his family fled Nazi-occupied Hungary and came to Britain in 1947. According to a report by Jagran.com, he studied at the London School of Economics after arriving in Britain. In the final phase of the investigation, we contacted JP Ranjan, a senior journalist covering international affairs at Dainik Jagran. The viral picture was shared with him, and he confirmed that the person with PM Modi in the photo is not George Soros, but former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. Lastly, we scanned the Facebook profile of the user who made the fake claim and found that it has around 5,000 followers. This account was created in June 2015 and the user identifies as a resident of Patna. Conclusion: Vishvas News’ investigation revealed that an old photo of PM Modi and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is being shared with a false claim. - Claim Review : Prime Minister Narendra Modi with George Soros - Claimed By : Facebook user PKR - Fact Check : False Know the truth!
