| - FACT CHECK: Was A ‘Tractor Trailer Worth’ Of Classified Documents Discovered At The University of Delaware?
A post shared on Facebook purports a “tractor trailer worth” of classified documents tied to President Joe Biden was recently discovered at the University of Delaware.
Verdict: False
Classified documents have been discovered only at the Penn Biden Center in Washington D.C. and his Wilmington, Delaware home. Although the University of Delaware houses Biden’s senatorial papers, it has not indicated any classified documents have been discovered.
Fact Check:
The FBI searched Biden’s home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware Feb. 1 but failed to find any additional classified documents, The Associated Press reported. The search was part of an ongoing investigation regarding the discovery of documents with classified markings at multiple locations, according to NBC News.
“BREAKING More classified documents found at the University of Delaware, told to be the equivalent of a tractor trailer worth..,” the Facebook post, liked over 1,000 times, purports.
The claim is false. Credible news reports, including one from CNBC, indicate classified documents tied to Biden have only been discovered at a Washington, D.C. office he used after serving as vice president in the Obama administration and his Wilmington, Delaware home.
Likewise, the University of Delaware has neither addressed the purported claim on its website nor its verified social media accounts. In addition, the White House has not shared any information about classified documents supposedly being discovered at the university.
The University of Delaware does have access to Biden’s senatorial papers, according to its library’s website. Biden donated the papers, which arrived at the university in 2012. No documents have been added or removed during visits to the university library’s special collection where the documents are housed, the website indicated.
A pledge was also made to not make any of the documents Biden donated public until two years after he retires from public life, according to the Washington Times. Biden donated 1,875 boxes and 415 gigabytes of electronic records to the university, the outlet indicated.

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz urged the Department of Justice (DOJ) Jan. 24 to go through the documents housed at the University of Delaware since classified documents from Biden’s time as a senator were discovered at his Delaware home, The Hill reported.
