Listen to Story India Today Fact Check This video is edited. In the full video, the BJP supporter talked about AAP not having candidates who could compete with the BJP. Assembly elections in Gujarat are due later this year. While the state has been a Bharatiya Janata Party bastion for years now, the Aam Aadmi Party appears to be making an effort to change that this time. But are traditional BJP supporters now rooting for the AAP? Many on social media, while sharing a video, claimed so. The video features a BJP supporter wearing a party scarf talking to an India Today journalist. He said in Gujarati, “The Aam Aadmi Party is dominant. Many educated candidates are participating.” People shared the video with captions like, “In Gujarat, even BJP supporters believe that this time, the Aam Aadmi Party is dominating.” AFWA found that the viral clip was edited to give it a false spin. The archived versions of such tweets can be seen here and here. AFWA PROBE We found the full video of this interview on India Today’s Gujarati YouTube channel “Gujarat Tak”. The video shared on September 20, 2022, was titled, “People who came to BJP's roadshow also want development.” In it, India Today’s correspondent spoke to people attending BJP national president JP Nadda's rally in Morbi, Gujarat. Near the four-minute mark, she asked people about their thoughts on the AAP entering the fray. It was then that the BJP supporter seen in the viral clip said, “Aam Aadmi Party is dominant. Many educated candidates are participating, but they will not be able to surpass the BJP. They don’t have good orators or a big face who can compete with the BJP’s candidates.” Per news reports, as a part of his two-day visit to the state, Nadda organised a roadshow on September 20 in Morbi along with the state BJP President CR Paatil and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. #WATCH | Gujarat: BJP national president JP Nadda along with CM Bhupendra Patel holds a roadshow in Morbi pic.twitter.com/9ybxANGiq6 — ANI (@ANI) September 20, 2022 We then spoke to Aaj Tak Gujarat’s Editor Gopi Ghanghar, the journalist in the viral clip. She confirmed that there were no AAP-supporting slogans or interviews from the aforementioned roadshow.
