  • FACT CHECK: No, Deceased Grandmother Was Not Encased In Resin A photo shared on Twitter claims to show a family with their deceased grandmother encased in resin. This family encased their deceased grandmother in resin and use her as a coffee table. pic.twitter.com/5LxtpXAXNM — Chris Ray Gun (@ChrisRGun) June 19, 2023 Verdict: False The photo is not genuine. The original image shows a dog in the resin and was created by a visual effects artist. Fact Check: A recent report found that life expectancy in the United States has seen its largest drop since World War II, according to USA Today. The North and the West have had the best life expectancies, with states such as New York and Hawaii on par with some of the healthiest countries in the world, The Hill reported. The Twitter post purports a family encased their recently deceased loved one in resin. The image appears to show three smiling people gathered around a block of resin that appears to contain an elderly woman. “This family encased their deceased grandmother in resin and use her as a coffee table,” the caption reads. The photo is digitally fabricated, however. The original image posted to Twitter appears to show a dog encased in the resin. It was posted by Kelly Port, whose bio identifies himself as a “visual effects supervisor.” Encasing loved ones in acrylic resin, a great Father’s Day gift!#FathersDay #FathersDay2023 #fathersdaygift #fathersdaygiftideas pic.twitter.com/hw5qNeLiZP — Kelly Port (@kellyport) June 18, 2023 Port is also credited on IMDB for working on visual effects on Avengers: Infinity War and Beauty and the Beast, among many other movies. (RELATED: Was The Grandmother Of Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister Photographed With Adolf Hitler?) The image of the grandmother appears to have been originally posted in a reply to Port’s tweet. After being asked what tools were used for manipulating the image, the Twitter user replied with “My edits were just done in the new photoshop beta with AI generation.” No problem for my part, can’t speak to what “@kellyport used to make the original imagine. My edits were just done in the new photoshop beta with AI generation. pic.twitter.com/6gO4kW1W44 — Free Willie Urqs⭕️ (@Urquwill) June 21, 2023 Check Your Fact has reached out to Port for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
