In the video, a house can be seen being swept away by the strong current of water. It is being claimed with the post that this is a scene after the recent heavy rains in Bangladesh. The viral claim turned out to be false in the investigation of Vishvas News. The video has nothing to do with Bangladesh, the viral video is from Indonesia. What’s in the viral post? Sharing the viral video, Facebook user ‘বাংলাদেশের লন্ডন লেট’ wrote, “Our Sylhet is not well today.” Sylhet is a city in eastern Bangladesh. The archived version of this post can be viewed here. Investigation – Vishvas News used the InVid tool to find out the veracity of the viral video. With the help of this tool, we extracted several grabs of videos and searched them through Google reverse image. We found this video on sg.news.yahoo.com The news was published on 1 December 2021. According to the news “Two houses were washed away and destroyed by heavy rains on the Indonesian island of Lombok. Footage filmed on Monday (December 6) shows houses being pulled one after the other into a stream as they fall into a narrow bridge.” We also found a screenshot of this video in a news on insider.com The report was published in December 2021. According to the news, the incident happened in Indonesia. For more information, Umam Noor, fact-checker of Vishvas News contacted Indonesian journalist Randy Mulyanto. Mulyanto, while talking to Umam, confirmed that the video is from Indonesia and is from 2021. Vishvas News, in the last phase of the investigation, conducted a background check on the profile that shared the viral post. We found that the user ‘বাংলাদেশের লন্ডন লেট’ is followed by 395,606 people. Conclusion: The viral claim turned out to be false in the investigation of Vishvas News. The video has nothing to do with Bangladesh.
