  • FACT CHECK: Have Texas, Wisconsin and Arkansas Decertified The 2020 Presidential Election? A post shared on Facebook claims Texas, Wisconsin and Arkansas have decertified the results of the 2020 presidential election. Verdict: False None of the states listed have decertified the results of the 2020 election. Fact Check: Former President Donald Trump has frequently alleged the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him and recently announced a book on the subject, according to Business Insider. One Facebook post appears to corroborate his claims. “TEXAS, WISCONSIN and ARKANSAS have DECERFIED (sic) 2020 ELECTION RESULTS,” reads the widely shared post. The claim is meritless. Neither Texas, Wisconsin nor Arkansas have decertified the results of the 2020 election. Check Your Fact searched the websites of each state’s legislature and supreme court but found nothing about the results of the election being overturned. Trump won both Texas and Arkansas but lost Wisconsin, according to 270towin.com. “No, Texas did not decertify its 2020 election results,” said Assistant Secretary of State for Communications Sam Taylor in an email to Check Your Fact. Riley Vetterkind, a public information officer for the Wisconsin Elections Commission, likewise confirmed in an email to Check Your Fact that his state had not decertified its 2020 election results. (RELATED: Did Donald Trump Release This Father’s Day Statement Insulting Dick Cheney And Ron DeSantis?) Wisconsin Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos stated in March 2022 that overturning the election would be “legally impossible,” Wisconsin Public Radio reported. The Texas Republican Party adopted a resolution June 20 during its state convention that rejected the results of the 2020 presidential election, CNN reported. In October 2021, five members of the Arkansas state legislature signed a letter calling for an audit of the 2020 presidential election, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The 2020 election has been the target of countless accusations of election fraud and misconduct. Check Your Fact previously debunked a claim from January 2022 suggesting the Wisconsin legislature had voted to withdraw all 10 of its electoral votes.
