| - Fact Check: Photos of Japan anti-nuclear protest passed off as Zakir Musa's funeral
Many Facebook users have taken to the social media platform, posting an image of a gathering of thousands of people, and claiming it to be from Musa's funeral.

The photo is of protesters during the anti-nuclear demonstration in Tokyo back in 2011.
After Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani’s death in July 2016, his close aide Zakir Musa became the face of militancy in Kashmir. On May 23, Musa was gunned down in an encounter with security forces, and his funeral was attended by many people in the Valley.
Many Facebook users have since taken to the social media platform, posting an image of a gathering of thousands of people, and claiming it to be from Musa’s funeral.
India Today’s Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) did a reverse search of the image and found that it is an old photo taken in Japan.
On May 24, a day after Musa’s death, Facebook page The Kashmiriyat’ posted a photo of a huge crowd, claiming that the gathering was from the militant’s funeral ceremony. The post reads, Hundreds of youth spent nights on streets amid heavy downpour to get a last glimpse of Zakir Musa, the Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind commander.
The post has been shared more than 1,500 times at the time of filing this story. The post used a link from a UK-based website.
Another Facebook page KNL-Kashmir News 24/7 LIVE’ also shared the same post.

AFWA found that the photo was from an anti-nuclear protest in Tokyo on September 19, 2011. It was shot by news agency Associated Press which credits the source to Kyodo News.
Later, the photo was also used by Japan Times and other news organisations.
