  • Authors Claim Muslims wear the Pakistani cricket team jersey to celebrate the inauguration of an Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) office in Kasaragod, Kerala. The archived version of the tweet can be seen here. Fact Newschecker first looked up the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) website, where you can see the jersey. The jersey, also seen on the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) website, features the logos of the ICC T20 World Cup, the PCB and team sponsor Pepsi. A comparison shows that it is not the same jersey worn by the activists in the viral video. We then ran a relevant keyword search on Facebook, which led us to the same video uploaded by a page, Pachapada Arangadi, which translates to “Green Army, Arangadi (a place in Kasaragod, Kerala)” dated June 28, 2024. Another video from the same page where you can see the jersey more clearly can be seen here. You can see the words “Pachapada Arangadi” written in Malayalam on the back of the jersey, while “Arangadi” is written in English on the front On the right side, you can see the IUML’s league and a logo, while on the right sleeve, IUML is written and MYL (Muslim Youth League) is written on the left sleeve, which confirms that the people were not wearing the Pakistani cricket team jersey.
