Quick Take
A social media post claims that an American television personality Martha Stewart is advertising “C0PD Gummies” sold under her name. We fact-checked and found this claim to be False.
The Claim
The caption of a Facebook post shows a video that displays an advertisement to sell a product named “COPD gummies” and is advertised by Martha Stewart. A screenshot is attached below:
Fact Check
Is Martha Stewart promoting COPD Gummies running under her name?
No. There is no evidence to prove that Martha Stewart is promoting her line of “COPD gummies” in the video. Despite conducting a Google reverse image search, we were unable to locate any platforms selling a product featuring the same image as the “Martha Stewart COPD Gummies.”
The video is embedded with a link that is a commercial for a website called “Flavors 8, LLC,” which is purported to provide the highest quality health & wellness products. The website sells various makeup products and not any product named “COPD Gummies.”
The post included a video featuring Martha Stewart, or someone bearing a striking resemblance to her, endorsing the product. While the audio mimics her voice and speaking style quite closely, it is possible that it was created using either an impersonator or audio-deep fake technology.
Also, Martha Stewart does sell a line of CBD Products, Includes Wellness Gummies, Soft Gels, and Oil Drops, but no product could be found on her website selling “COPD gummies.” Despite a similar-sounding name, CBD has nothing to do with COPD.
Hence, the video in question is misleading and should not be taken seriously. Also, it is essential to be aware of the risks associated with taking unproven supplements and to consult with a healthcare professional before taking any new medication.
