New Delhi (Vishvas News). Amid the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a photo of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath taking a selfie with former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is going viral on social media. From the viral photo, it appears that the two leaders met at the Kumbh Mela, and posed for a selfie.
However, Vishvas News, in its investigation, found this claim to be false. No such meeting took place between the two leaders and the viral picture is not real but has been created using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
What is viral?
Social media user ‘Samajwad ek soch’ shared the viral photo featuring Yogi Adityanath taking selfie with Akhilesh Yadav.
Many other users across different social media platforms have shared this photo with similar claims.
Investigation
A meeting between Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav would have made headlines, but we did not find any mention of a meeting between these two leaders. This raised suspicions that the picture is fabricated.
Upon closely analysing the picture, details like its sharpness indicated that the image could be fake. To confirm, we analysed the picture using AI detection tool.
Hive Moderation’s analysis indicates a 100% probability of the image being AI-generated. The results indicate that the image was most likely created using Stable Diffusion.
Notably, Stable Diffusion is a deep learning model used to create images using text inputs, producing high-quality and photo-realistic images, which look real.
Analysis from other tools also confirm that this image was AI-generated.
According to the news report, Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav previously met during the commencement of the 18th session of the UP Assembly, where the newly elected MLAs were sworn in. During this time, Yogi and Akhilesh Yadav’s face-to-face interaction garnered significant media attention.
News agency ANI shared a photo and video of the meeting between the two leaders on its official handle.
To verify the viral photo, we contacted Lucknow-based senior journalist Siddharth Kalhans, who confirmed, “There has been no such meeting between Yogi and Akhilesh Yadav.”
The Facebook user who shared the viral photo has around four lakh followers, and his profile appears to be inspired by a particular ideology.
Conclusion: The photo featuring Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath taking a selfie with Akhilesh Yadav is not real but AI-generated. The last face-to-face encounter between the two leaders was during the 2022 assembly session.
