Verdict: False The video is from 2021 and takes place in the North Atlantic. It does not have anything to do with the current conflict in Yemen. Fact Check: The U.S. said its forces struck a Houthi surface-to-air missile that was threatening its aircraft, according to CBS News. This comes after three U.S. service members died in a rocket attack on a base in Jordan, the outlet reported. Social media users are sharing a video of warships and aircraft, claiming it shows an armada of U.S. naval vessels descending onto Yemen’s coast. One user wrote, “BREAKING: Massive United States fleet of warships seen off the coast of Yemen.” This, however, is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found the video on Reddit. The video was posted eight months ago on a subReddit, months before the current U.S. campaign against the Houthi rebels. Check Your Fact found that the video is likely from and shows a joint exercise between the U.S. and the United Kingdom. An image of the exercise published on The War Zone matches the video in the Facebook post. (RELATED: No, Image Does Not Show Iranian Missile Strike On Pakistan) “The exercises brought together 15 ships from four NATO countries, including the United Kingdom Carrier Strike Group and the U.S. IWO Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU),” reads the press release from the U.S. Navy. Logically Facts also debunked this claim.
