  • Last Updated on June 23, 2023 by Neelam Singh Quick Take A video on social media shows a person removing long string from a person’s nostril. The claim asserts that the string represents a protein that entered the body through vaccines. We fact-checked and found the claim to be False. The Claim A video on Twitter displays an elongated protein string purportedly extracted from a person’s nostril, claiming it entered the body through vaccines. The 48-second video features unidentified narrators analyzing and marveling at the footage, seemingly part of a more extended program. The post has received 635 retweets, 72 quotes, 1,128 likes and 235 bookmarks till we last checked. Below is the screenshot of the post: Fact Check Does the video show ‘protein in vaccine’ being pulled from the body? No, the video does not show ‘protein in vaccine’ being pulled from the body. There is no correlation between their presence and vaccines. The claim linking the video to proteins from vaccines is baseless and lacks scientific support. Contrary to the claim, our research indicates that the object shown in the video is a tapeworm, not a protein from a vaccine. We ran a Google reverse image search and found a YouTube video from a news program in Thailand. This video confirms in the native language that the object is a tapeworm. Can tapeworms live inside the human body? Yes, tapeworms can live inside the human body, including the nose. Tapeworms are parasitic worms that can infect humans, typically through the consumption of raw or undercooked meat. The small intestine is their preferred habitat. But tapeworms can migrate and infest other body parts to infect nasal passages, brain, and muscles. We have encountered similar inconsistent claims before which associates unidentified structures found within the body with vaccines. Previously, we debunked the notion of COVID-19 vaccines creating engineered biostructures inside arteries. The image of these bioengineered structures bear a resemblance to those we debunked in this story.
