The Claim
Various social media posts are sharing an article that claims nasal swabs used in testing for the COVID-19 virus that were distributed to the U.S. military were tainted with “a deadly bacteria that causes necrotizing fasciitis”. The posts can be seen here and here and a screenshot is attached below.
The first paragraph of the article reads: “Certain batches of Covid-19 nasal swabs distributed to the U.S. military have been tainted with a deadly bacteria that causes necrotizing fasciitis, a flesh-eating disease that quickly destroys tissue under the skin and often results in death unless IV antibiotics are administered before the onset of necrosis, said Captain Jacob Downing, a medical doctor and infectious disease expert at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Medical Research (WRAIR).”

Fact Check
Are COVID-19 test swabs sent to the U.S. military ‘tainted with deadly bacteria’?
No. The article titled “Covid Testing Swabs Tainted with Deadly Bacteria”, published on Real Raw News on January 07, 2022, builds its story on the quote of Captain Jacob Downing. However, Terry L. Welch, strategic communications director at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research confirmed to Reuters that the claim is completely false.
The safety of COVID-19 testing kits is paramount, particularly in a climate where concerns over vaccination tracking technologies, like microchips, fuel public anxiety about health management practices.
Real Raw News has a history of publishing fabricated stories. Due to lack of any evidence which proves this claim by Real Raw News, the claim stands false.
