On doing a keyword search based on the viral video, we found a January 10, 2024 report by TribuneIndia.com, which mentions an FIR filed by Shiv Sena (UBT) over the fake claim associated with this video.
According to the report, “Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vinayak Raut on Friday filed a police complaint over a video of a raid on a dance bar being falsely attributed to Aditya Thackeray. According to the official, the alleged video was shot at a dance bar in Mumbai’s Andheri area. It shows some women coming out of a tunnel built inside the premises after the police action.”
According to the report, the video was edited to include the text, “The owner of this cafe is Aditya Thackeray”.
On investigating further, we found a report by India Today dated December 13, 2021, discussing the original incident.
According to the report, “The Social Service Branch raided Deepa Bar in Andheri, Mumbai and rescued 17 girls hiding in a tunnel there.” The police had filed an FIR naming 20 people in this case.

Regarding this, we contacted Saurabh Vaktania, the journalist who wrote the report for India Today, and he confirmed that this incident dates back to 2021. He told that now he works as a freelance journalist.
To check the commercial properties owned by Aditya Thackeray, we checked his election affidavit. Thackeray contested from Worli assembly seat in Maharashtra and according to his election affidavit, he does not own any commercial property in Andheri.
He owns two commercial properties, one in Kalyan district and the other in Thane. Our investigation revealed that a video of a raid on Deepa Bar in Andheri, Mumbai in 2022 is being shared with a false claim attributing it to Aditya Thackeray.
In a news search, we found an old report of Times of India dated March 10, 2011, which mentioned a case being filed against Nihar Thackeray, grandson of the late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). According to the report, “He is believed to be the owner of a women’s bar in Santacruz (West), from where nine women were rescued after a police raid on Wednesday morning. These women are believed to have been forced into prostitution and treated like victims.”
We contacted Shiv Sena (UBT) faction spokesperson Anand Dubey regarding this video and he confirmed that the video in question has no connection with Aditya Thackeray or his family. He said, “We have lodged a complaint at Mumbai’s BKC police station against this propaganda.”
