  • FACT CHECK: No, An Israeli Leader Did Not Say ‘Gas The Palestinians Now’ A post shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, claims an Israeli leader said “gas the Palestinians now.” 🇮🇱 holy sh*t pic.twitter.com/7V1chrQd2j — Jackson Hinkle 🇺🇸 (@jacksonhinklle) October 30, 2023 Verdict: False There is no truth to the claim. It stems from an article by a website known for publishing misinformation. Fact Check: House Speaker Mike Johnson has vowed to proceed with a $14.5 billion aid package for Israel, according to CNN. In order to make this happen, however, there would need to be $14.3 billion in funding cuts for the Internal Revenue Service, which would negatively affect the Inflation Reduction Act implemented last year, The Hill reported. An X post claims an Israeli leader encouraged gassing Palestinians. The post shares a screenshot of an article covering the claim with an image of a man shaking his finger. “Israeli Leader: ‘It’s Time To Turn Gaza Into Dresden! Gas the Palestinians Now!'” the headline reads. The post is inaccurate, however. There are no credible news reports to corroborate the claim. The screenshot seen in the post stems from The People’s Voice, a site that regularly posts misinformation. The site’s “Terms of Use” page indicates that it “makes no representations about the suitability, reliability, availability, timeliness, and accuracy of the information, software, products, services and related graphics contained on the site for any purpose.” Check Your Fact has debunked The People’s Voice numerous previous times. Likewise, Check Your Fact has recently debunked several claims from the creator of the X post, Jackson Hinkle. (RELATED: Video Claims To Show Israeli Troops Fighting With Hamas) Check Your Fact has reached out to the Israel Ministry of Defense and the Israeli Defense Force for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received from either source. Note: Check Your Fact is working to debunk false and misleading claims from the recent event. Please send tips to [email protected].
